Nature's first green is gold, Her hardest hue to hold Her early leaf's a flower; But only so an hour Then leaf subsides to leaf So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day Nothing gold can stay -robert frost-

the sound of a leaf on winters eve
the path is strewn with leaves of old all kin of colours green brown and gold swept away into the side of the lane only to be scattered by the wind again
the chill wind breeds melancholy a thousand hearts beg to be free but nature lets its story unfold and a thousand hearts once more grow cold
winter hearkens through the night fresh frost yearns to take up flight
a final melody and the flit of wings marks the short living end of all things the leaves stay still where theyve lain as the last of autumnal beauty fades in vain
we walk the last down the lane, and all to be heard is silence, save for the sound of a leaf on winters eve
