Hi all,
The college magazine will be including an article about our SYF play, so here are some interview questions for the cast, Gavin, and Mr Vadi. Pls answer them so that you can be quoted/described in the magazine. (Otherwise you'll just be referred to.) A response by this Friday would be great :) (wai kit)
For the cast:
How do you feel about representing the college in the SYF?
its pretty sweet since its not only something for the school, drama is something im passionate about. theres nothing i love more than getting out onto a stage and doing the good stuff for an appreciative audience and i guess the competitive nature of SYF only adds to the whole experience. in short, its an honour representing our school and all the people in it, because we get to show these people what RJ drama is about- that we can speak sass and kick ass too.
In brief, what are the characters that you play like? (ie. ranging from...to...)
i love phoenix. theres no range here, i just love phoenix. just look at the name for starters- phoenix. how sweet is that? phoenix is a brilliant character and i enjoy playing him because of all the different emotions i get to bring out playing him. its a bit of a challenge since ive never really played such an emotionally heavy, serious character before and showing two different sides of him to an audience; the fast talking easy going young man and the boy who lost his way.
What difficulties did you encounter when building your character(s)?
thats my secret. sorry.
Was the rehearsal process demanding? How so?
not really. although we did runs again and again, it was all good fun. like i said- i love doing what i do, so everytime i get up for another run; its another slide into phoenixs' life; and a form of momentary escape; for just a little bit- but a bit that means so very much to all of us.
Any interesting or amusing anecdotes from the rehearsals?
the other day, wai kit actually retorted to one of gavins jibes. and that time when i told mr vadi that gavin was pregnant and gavin who had just come in asked if it was a boy or a girl. also, phoenix has been your daddy since 1988.
Finally, how confident are you that RJC will do well in SYF Drama this year?
we wont just do well; im confident of us coming back with the gold with honours; because with a director like the vad-man and the supremely talented cast we have- its just a matter of time baby.
