change
hits you like a wave,
helpless
against its inexorable tug
as the tide
exerts itself over
your slowly stilling form,
quickly and quietly
in the middle of the night
you go below
a white crest of foam
gasp
water pours into yourself,
weight of time
and the ages
on its back
surging forth
to break yours,
suddenly
clearness
clarity
previously unattainable
it fills you
with its essence,
motionless you sink
to the ground
the sky so clear
the world so young
and still i ask
what have i become
still i fade
till i rise
forgot to say
all my goodbyes
black
