and so here we are, back at the qualifiers. heres who i think will do what and go where. players next to countries are those guys you wanna look out for.
EUROPE
group 1
The perennial underachievers Netherlands (RUUD VAN NISTELROOY) and this stronger Czech Republic (MILAN BAROS) side look to be going through although Romania looks like it might cause a few upsets. gosh how i miss hagi.
group 2
Ukraine (ANDRIY SCHEVCHENKO) are through and Turkey are second, but i wouldnt put it past Greece (STELIOS GIANNAKOPOULOS) to qualify ahead of them, seeing as to how they have a game in hand.
group 3
Portugal (LUIS FIGO), back with FIGO! are sure to qualify, and though Slovakia lead on goal difference, i think Russia (ALEXEI SMERTIN) will still make it through ahead of them.
group 4
France (ZINEDINE ZIDANE) has 16 points and has only conceded once, and share a lead with Switzerland. Ireland (ROY KEANE) have a game in hand, like France, so I think theyll sneak past Israel for the second position. Switzerland look strong but..naw.
group 5
This is tough. The Azzuri, Italy (ALBERTO GILARDINHO) will qualify, although its a tough one between Norway and Slovakia, as Scotland sneak back in. Im going with Norway (THAT NORWEGIAN GUY).
group 6
Simply because they have so many points, Poland (JERZY DUDEK hehe) and England (STEVEN GERARD) although England lost to NORTHERN IRELAND HAHAHAHHAHA.
group 7
So Sad for Spain (RAUL GONZALEZ). they should qualify, though the serbs from Serbia and Montenegro (MATEJA KEZMAN) are doing a good job. Watch out for Belgium. haha sonk.
group 8
Iceland have been disappointing, so Id think that Sweden (HENRIK LARSSON) and Croatia (DADO PRSO) should qualify, though they put up a poor performance againt measly Malta.
SOUTH AMERICA
Very simple. Brazil (DIDA,MARCOS,ROBERTO CARLOS,LEO,MAICON,LUCIO,JUAN,ROQUE JUNIOR,CAFU,CICINHO,ZE ROBERTO,EMERSON,GILBERTO,JUNINHO PERNAMBUCANO,JULIO BAPTISTA,RONALDINHO,KAKA,ROBINHO,RONALDO,ADRIANO,RICARDINHO) are gonna qualify and then next year add a sixth star to their jersey, Argentina (PABLO AIMAR), Ecuador (DELGADO) and Paraguay (wish i could say JOSE LUIS CHILAVERT, but no, so ROQUE SANTA CRUZ will do.)
CONCACAF
The USA (DAMARCUS BEASLEY-remember cobi jones?), Mexico (BLANCO!!!) and Costa Rica should be through.
AFRICA
This is where it gets interesting. One team per group, so yeah.
Group 1: Togo are leading, but I think Senegal (PAPA BOUBA DIOUF) should pull through.
Group 2: Its gonna be tough, but Ghana (MICHEAL ESSIEN) should pull through.
Group 3: Itll be close between the Ivory Coast (DIDIER DROGBA) and Cameroon (WEBO), but i hope the something (brave? golden?) lions make it.
Group 4: Angola lead, but trust Nigeria (OBAFEMI MARTINS) to make it.
Group 5: The crunch match between Tunisia and Morocco (Noureddine Naybet) should decide this one, and im going with Morocco.
ASIA AND OCEANIA
Japan (HIDETOSHI NAKATA) became the first team to qualify for the finals. They were quickly followed by Iran, Saudi Arabia and South Korea (PARK JI SUNG)- meaning automatic qualifying was done and dusted with a round to spare. Uzbeikstan won a thrilling decider against Kuwait to book a play-off with Bahrain. The winner of that game will play the fourth place team from the Concacaf region - which looks like being either Costa Rica or Guatemala - for a place in the finals. Australia (HARRY KEWELL) cruised through to the final play-off.
well thats it then. other than that we had a thrilling game at the park today, with scores level at 0-0 for most of the match until i popped up in a corner to score the winning goal as we went off winning 1-0.
